Features How It Works Privacy Download

Your privacy is sacred

We believe your journal entries are between you and God. Here's exactly how we protect them.

Effective July 7, 2025

Your data at a glance

The key points, no legalese required.

Local First

Journal data lives on your device. iCloud sync is optional and encrypted.

AI Without Memory

AI providers cannot log, store, or train on your journal entries. Ever.

Usage-Only Analytics

We track app usage with PostHog — never your journal entries, prayers, or personal text.

Your Data, Your Choice

Delete everything at any time, right from the app or by contacting us.

1. Information We Collect

Walk With Jesus collects only what's needed to deliver the experience you expect. Here's what that includes:

Journal Entries

Stored locally on your device. Optionally synced via iCloud to your personal Apple account. Never sent to our servers.

Email & Name

Optional and only if you choose to provide them. Stored separately with no association to your other data.

Device Information

iOS version, device model, and UUID — used solely for app stability and support.

Diagnostics & Crash Data

Anonymized performance and crash reports. No journal content is ever included.

Push Notification Token

Used only to deliver your daily journaling reminders. You control when and if you receive them.

Purchase History

Handled entirely by Apple. We only receive confirmation a purchase was made — never your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the information collected to:

  • Deliver the app experience — generate personalized Bible verse suggestions, prayers, and encouragement based on your journal entries
  • Keep the app stable — diagnose crashes, monitor performance, and fix bugs
  • Send reminders — deliver your daily journaling nudges at the time you choose
  • Communicate with you — only if you opted in, to share important updates or notices

We never sell your data. We never share your journal content with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

3. AI and Your Journal Entries

When you write a journal entry and request verse suggestions, your text is sent to an AI service through OpenRouter — a routing provider that connects to language models. We use OpenRouter in organization mode, which enforces strict data handling rules on every provider in the chain.

No Logging

No AI provider in the chain is allowed to keep any record or log of your journal entries. Once processed, the data is gone.

No Training

Your words will never be used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. Your reflections stay yours.

Organization Mode

OpenRouter's organization mode contractually enforces that no downstream provider may retain or use your data.

The flow is simple: your journal text is sent, a verse and prayer are returned, and then your data is immediately discarded by every system in the chain.

4. iCloud Sync

Walk With Jesus can optionally sync your journal entries across your Apple devices using Apple iCloud. This feature is entirely opt-in.

When enabled, your data is stored in your personal iCloud storage and transferred in encrypted form. Apple manages the encryption and security of iCloud data. You can learn more about iCloud security and Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app's settings or through your device's iCloud preferences.

5. Push Notifications

Walk With Jesus may send push notifications to remind you to journal at the time you choose. The notification content is generic — "Take a moment to reflect and write in your journal today." — and never references your journal entries.

You can opt out of push notifications at any time by visiting your device's notification settings.

6. In-App Purchases

All payments are processed through the Apple App Store. Walk With Jesus never collects, sees, or stores your payment information — credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.

We only receive a confirmation from Apple that a purchase was completed. Apple's handling of payment data is governed by their own Privacy Policy.

7. Analytics and Diagnostics

We use Apple App Store Connect for aggregated, anonymized usage analytics. This helps us understand app performance, user engagement, and crash reports.

App Store Connect only collects data from users who have agreed to share analytics with app developers through their device settings. You can opt out at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements on your device.

We also use PostHog as a third-party analytics provider. PostHog collects only app usage data — such as which screens are visited and which features are used — to help us improve the experience. PostHog never collects any information you input, including journal entries, prayers, or any personal text. Your words remain private.

We do not use advertising trackers, data brokers, or any analytics SDKs that collect personal content. Your journal content is never included in any analytics data.

8. Third-Party Access

Only aggregated, anonymized data is transmitted to external services to help us improve the app. We may share your information with third parties only in these limited circumstances:

  • As required by law — to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
  • To protect rights and safety — when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others
  • With trusted service providers — who work on our behalf, have no independent use of the information, and adhere to this privacy policy

We will never share your journal entries with any third party for advertising, marketing, or data brokerage purposes.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain user-provided data only for as long as you use the app and for a reasonable period thereafter.

  • Journal entries — stored on your device as long as you keep them. Delete them anytime from within the app.
  • Email and name — if provided, can be deleted upon request by contacting us
  • Crash and diagnostic data — retained for up to 90 days, then automatically purged

To request deletion of any data we hold, contact us at info@rationalbit.com and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Rectification

Correct any inaccurate personal information we have about you.

Erasure

Request that we delete all personal data we hold about you.

Restriction

Limit how we process your data — we'll only store it, nothing more.

Portability

Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Objection

Object to the processing of your data at any time.

You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@rationalbit.com.

11. Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all data collection by the app at any time by turning off analytics sharing in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.

12. Children's Privacy

Walk With Jesus does not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's internet usage. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at info@rationalbit.com so we can take the necessary actions.

You must be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries, your parent or guardian may do so on your behalf).

13. Security Measures

We take the confidentiality of your information seriously. Walk With Jesus employs physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the data we process and maintain.

API keys used by the app are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. All data transmitted between the app and external services is encrypted in transit. Biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or Optic ID) adds an additional layer of protection to your journal.

14. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. We will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new policy. You are advised to review this page regularly, as continued use of the app is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of July 7, 2025.

15. Your Consent

By using Walk With Jesus, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, now and as amended by us in the future.
